I remember Olivier as Maxim de Winter in the film “Rebecca," but he’s probably better known for his roles in “Marathon Man,” the 1939 adaptation of “Wuthering Heights,” and his work in several Shakespeare productions. His was another brilliant face that I had too much fun with. Larry had such great bone structure. He gets the title of most enjoyable nose I’ve ever had the pleasure of drawing so far, possibly the best cheekbones too.
His suit coat had me in a ruffle for awhile. I’m still unsatisfied with it. Er, I figured since it was clothing it was forgivable? I’m not disappointed with the picture, but I like to assume I could do better – it motivates me to be better.
This is on 18” X 24” bristol paper, rendered with 0.7 mm mechanical pencil and a white vinyl eraser. I used Kleenex tissues for the background. Thirty plus hours.
Elizabeth Taylor is next in the queue.
