I’ve had this [link] reference set aside for a long time. I originally intended to do it in pencil, but I’ve been having a lot more fun with acrylics lately and wanted to try another portrait with them. This was another b&w reference that I wanted to colorize. There is such a limited color palette here, proof that I tend to think in black and white. It’s oddly almost monochromatic.
Anyway, this is the first time I’ve bothered to do “proper” hair in acrylic. Blonde is never fun, whether it’s in color or not, and it doesn’t look truly blonde to me. But I’m happy with the overall result.
Actually I am glad you drew Miss Gish as pretty looking Silent Screen Star. She had a long career, but to most people who saw her in film after 1954 she is a great actress but an elderly lady.
THIS IS SO AMAZING. I CAN'T DO PORTRAITS IN COLOR NORMALLY BUT I DECIDED TO DO ONE FOR A CHANGE AND IT IS SO AMATEUR COMPARED TO YOURS. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
