I’ve only seen one of Loretta’s films but when I accidentally stumbled across this [link] picture I couldn’t pass it up. I was initially drawn to it because of her wistful expression. What an intriguing look in her eyes…almost vulnerable. I noticed it had a lot of challenges like large areas of grey and the difficult-looking hand (fantastic, because I need to practice my greys and I rarely do hands) but that it still had so many good elements like the strong lighting, which was greatly lacking in my last portrait.

This time the reference turned out to be everything I thought it would be – simultaneously fun and challenging. Very challenging. It was a lot of work and I’m hoping it shows. I put time into stupid background things that I don’t usually care about.

Still trying to work on my artist’s signature. I noticed it is virtually invisible on most of my pieces so I tried to make a conscious effort to sign it a bit bigger this time. XD Laurence Olivier is my next subject.

I love love love this drawing because of mostly, the lighting on the face, neck and hand. The sequins slightly blurry. Your artistry is that worthy of a person not nearly as young as you. Awesome!!

wow, her hand is flawless.
Personally I would have blended the hair a just a bit more evenly, but the detail you've done on her face is so perfect!!! especially the expression you've shown through the muscles in her forehead. Beautiful!
